Friday we had Fusionman flying across the Channel with a jet propelled wing. Today a French dude is flying a human powered blimp across the Channel. Hear! Hear!
Here is a snap of sunrise over the South Pole. This was taken on 21 September 2008, the first time the sun has risen there in six months. It will set when spring starts for us. Nice.
This fungus, Pilobolus, was filmed discharging it's spores using a camera that films 250,000 frames per second. Is truly amazing. Make sure to listen, the background music is cool too.
In California they carved grooves in a road like a record. It was supposed to play the William Tell Overture when driven over at 55 mph. Residents are not amused.
Over at ireport I was reading about this one house that survived Ike. Apparently the owners had their home razed when Rita paid a visit. They rebuilt to withstand a Cat 5 storm. Incredible!
This clip is from a weekly show here in Britain called Mock The Week. Is one of the funniest shows I have ever had the pleasure to watch. My favorite on this show is a Scottish dude named Frankie Boyle. He is even more cynical than me! and friggin hilarious.(caution, the clip below contains language that is not suitable for work, but if you are watching this at work you really have a cool job).
I recently built myself a new puter. Ain't top o the line, but I would stand it beside any Win XP machine for usability, and just laff at anyone trying to push Fista. The downside is with a new machine my music database starts over. Here is a snap of my 'favorites' in the 3 months since the build. I am such a punk, or a Shaver and Rancid fan, go figure. Good music is good music.
Coverage provided by real people. Kudos to TVN. Weird thing is when they're in their vehicle driving through the storm it sounded like some of my sons music. Maybe that is the allure of a storm. Very cool nonetheless.
I understand that punk isn't for everyone, so screw you, as the punks say.
Number one: Rancid. These guys rock me on every level. They rock. They ain't pretty. They are real. Thanks. Oh yeah, they are all still alive.
Number two: The Clash. The late Joe Strummer and Mick Jones wrote and played some amazing music.
Number three:The Sex Pistols. They started it. Total eff you to society. For some reason they struck a chord with me. Maybe it was because of the whole fake American Dream thing(read mothers killing their kids in Texas today).
This story jumped out at me....as OnStar is fielding oh, so many calls from evacuees(sorry Ford, Chrysler, Toyota and Nissan owners. If you own a Kia just suicide now.. A HURRICANE IS COMING!). The good news is the ones that call have all the bells and whistles needed in a consumerist society. The sad news is that they are idiots. Just sayin'.
